I have spent about fifteen years as a CTO and CPTO inside PE- and VC-backed SaaS companies, and the through-line is that I'm brought in for the transformation window — stabilize the engineering org, integrate acquisitions, stand up DevSecOps and SOC-2 compliance, drive to a margin or EBITDA outcome, then hand off something stable. That's a six-to-twelve-month job, and it's the part I am best at and most energized by. Fractional lets me operate in that window full-time. It's also the right model for the mid-market PE buyer — they don't always need a permanent CTO, they need someone who can go in, fix it, improve Cyber Security posture, install AI governance, and leave a working machine. AI governance in conjunction with security posture specifically is unsolved almost everywhere right now - I bring that to a company in a timely and systematic manner.
